Poetry that connects…

Through poetry, we connect by way of creation. Our feelings can be shaped into words that offer a bridge for healing and insight. We can use a poem to help us recall a previous emotion or introduce us to new feelings. We can use a poem to confirm our insights or craft a new understanding. What we convey through the medium of poetry offers a direct connection to our inner world, clarifying the important elements of our identity. As we plug into our most private fears, dreams and relationships, then weave them into written expression, we are forming our associations through the indelible power of poetry. Something perceived as ephemeral can immediately feel lasting as we continue to form our ties to another person or an incident, through the reading and writing of poetry.

I write poetry in order to show others that what is inside of me is also within them: Our potential, the characteristics and qualities that make us human, and ultimately I attempt to pinpoint what could be living inside our fear and preventing us from experiencing the warm inviting waters of intimacy. When we allow our emotions the opportunity to become expressed through poetry, we achieve that intimacy as we bare the content of our souls for others to witness. We connect through our revealing, and in the end, we will find these deep forms of connection will be resilient and resonant throughout time.

I like poetry. Sometimes it says so much in a few words.
